Irish Traditional Music
Turn the Corner, co-founded by Michael
and Caroline Kilbane in 1996, performs an exciting blend of traditional
Irish dance music, Irish folk songs and ballads. As the resident
band for the Cleveland Ceili Club, Turn the Corner has always stayed
close to the roots of Irish dance music. Their driving arrangements
of jigs and reels are interspersed with ballads, OCarolan
pieces for a classical touch, and can include appearances by championship
step dancers for a truly dynamic and captivating stage show. Among
their many notable performances are concert appearances at the National
Flute Convention along with Cherish the Ladies, and the Oberlin
Conservatory of Music. All the members of Turn the Corner are accomplished
musicians on several instruments. In addition to their performances,
they have shared their talents through Irish music workshops and
lectures at a variety of levels from beginner to expert. Workshops
and lectures at such notable institutions as the University of Akron
and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music highlight their collective
resume. |
